Psychological Counselling

Do you want things to be different? Reflect On Counselling Service is committed to making counselling accessible within our community. We provide compassionate, professional and affordable psychological counselling, including free and low-cost counselling opportunities for people who may otherwise find it difficult to access therapeutic support.

Our clinicians listen carefully and work flexibly and respectfully with each person's individual circumstances, offering empathy, insight and a creative space in which change, reflection and growth can take place.

About Us

Hello and thank you for visiting Reflect On Counselling Service. We are a community-focused counselling service committed to widening access to safe, ethical and compassionate psychological support.

Alongside our wider therapeutic services, we provide free and low-cost community counselling, helping to reduce some of the financial barriers that can prevent people from accessing therapy. We support individuals, couples and families across a range of psychological, emotional and relationship difficulties, offering both short-term and longer-term therapeutic work.

Our Team

Our team consists of highly experienced, Accredited Registered Therapists and Counsellors who work collaboratively to offer tailored, evidence-based therapies to our clients. Alongside our therapists, we have a network of qualified trainees and volunteers, all of whom are committed to professional development and delivering effective, ethical support. We maintain a referral pool to match clients with the best-fit therapist based on their specific needs and therapeutic goals.

Our approach and how we work

At ROA, we believe in creating a safe, energising, and compassionate space for our clients to explore and express themselves. Our approach is relational, combining person-centred, psychodynamic, and cognitive-behavioural methods within a pluralistic framework. This means that we recognise there is no single approach that fits every client, and we adapt our work best to meet the individual needs and circumstances of each person.

We are dedicated to fostering positive change through evidence-based treatments and creative processes that allow our clients better to understand their feelings, emotions, and behaviours. We encourage creativity, reflection, and self-expression as tools for self-discovery and healing.

All therapy sessions are conducted confidentially and professionally, adhering to the ethical guidelines of our governing bodies. We work with clients to set goals, and each session builds on the previous work, ensuring that therapy remains focused and effective.

We offer short-term and long-term therapy for individuals, couples, and families, as well as support for groups. Our services extend to various sectors, including local authorities, charities, the NHS, insurance providers, and other private companies.

Therapeutic Services Offered

We offer a range of therapeutic approaches and work flexibly according to each person’s individual needs and circumstances. Our work may draw on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), person-centred and psychodynamic approaches, compassion-focused therapy and expressive arts. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, therapy can integrate different ways of working to help clients explore their thoughts, feelings, relationships and experiences, develop greater self-understanding, and find ways of responding to difficulties that feel meaningful and helpful to them.

Creative and expressive approaches may also be incorporated where appropriate, providing different ways to explore experiences that can sometimes be difficult to put into words.

Free and Low-Cost Community Counselling

Accessibility is an important part of our work. Reflect On Counselling Service provides free and low-cost counselling opportunities within the community for people who may otherwise experience financial or other barriers to accessing therapeutic support.

Counselling is provided within a professionally supported service, with clients matched appropriately according to their needs and the experience of the available practitioner. Availability may vary, and some services may operate a waiting list.

I prefer this because CBT no longer gets a whole explanatory paragraph while everything else gets bundled into a list. It presents Reflect On as genuinely integrative, with expressive arts and compassion naturally sitting within the way you work rather than appearing as two extra services you've bolted on.

Our Referral Pool

To ensure the best possible match between clients and therapists, we have a referral pool. This allows us to carefully pair clients with therapists based on their unique needs, therapeutic goals, and preferred modalities. Whether you're looking for short-term support or long-term guidance, we are dedicated to ensuring that your experience with us is empowering, supportive, and transformative.

At Reflect On, we strive to provide you with a compassionate and effective therapeutic experience that will help you navigate your challenges and achieve lasting growth..
